If you upload something to someone else's service and servers how is it fair that they get nothing and YOU get the Lions share? If you want it that way then you need to make your own service. You're using a service such as Twitch or YouTube or anything else. You're forgetting a very important piece of information here. Things are broken for content creators and copyright holders, mostly because noone seems to respect either anymore. Does that sound fair? I mean, you sort of agreed to everything and he isn't really doing anything he said he wouldn't, but. When you ask about the money, he says, "hey when I've sold 10k of these, I'll cut you in for half of some of them later". Your buddy takes them from you to "show" people with your permission, he makes copies and sells them for a profit. How is it fair that they should make money on content I make and then they arbitrarily decide when I deserve payment? Think of it this way, you are drawing superhero portraits of the kids in school. Here's an example: Back in the day and before you are a partner, YouTube would not ad share revenue with you, right? BUT they will still run ads, on the clip, on the page. A union would create an environment where workers are given minimums for work performed.
They pass all the risk of the content creation on to someone else then take the lion's share of the revenue. They consistently ruin people's livelihoods and long term work to build entertainment businesses on their platforms by changing rules and doing stupid things like the ad eligibility chicanery by YouTube.

Though yes, I can see how if twitch prime being is a big part of your sub base then yeah a vacation could kill that too.Īt the same time, income stability is a huge issue for a lot of people. Most of the lost revenue probably comes from a lack of donations. Yeah you are going to lose subs if you take a 2 week vacation but honestly I would be really surprised if these larger streamers actually lost anywhere in the 30% range of subs for a vaca. I am not sure how someone really diversifies their content to avoid donations being such a large source of your income, but I think that would be the way to go.ĭiversify so that you have evergreen content on say, youtube. The other thing is taking a vacation and losing 30% of your income means to me that you have a high reliance on donations, which are probably only occurring when you are live.
